"Composting With Kids" workshops held at the Urban Garden Center. Photo's courtesy of Lydi Morgan Bernal- Kokua Hawaii Foundation

Kokua Hawaii Foundation offered hands on workshops for their Aina in School teachers and docents, in conjunction with the Oahu Master Gardeners.

There are currently 10 elementary schools participating from the North Shore, to Windward side and in town. Different techniques in composting will be introduced to their 3 grade class, including EM® & EM® Bokashi which recycles "ALL" solid food waste in a fraction of the time.

Participants were able to see & smell food waste that has been properly fermented with EM® Bokashi for 2 weeks.

The proper way the treated food waste should be mixed into soil and covered.

The final results after being left to breakdown in the soil for additional 2 weeks.

"Poor "soil with no life, transformed into “Super Soil” full of life and nutrients for plants to thrive!
